How to cook Nepali Style C-Momo (Chilli Momo) in 10 Minutes? C-MOMO Recipe
How many of you love MOMO? Yeah, in Nepal, MOMO became one of the famous and favorite food of all Nepali people. Wait, are you still thinking about what is MOMO? Alright, momo is a dumpling.
Exactly same dumpling that you might have eaten at Chinese or Japanese cuisine, where Japanese name is “Gyoza”. Dumplings and Momos are same food, however MOMO from Nepal will make you and your mouth watery.
The recipe of MOMOs from Nepal is totally different from dumplings. Dipping sauce of momos are spicy and spices of the momo fillings will make your mouth watery as I have mentioned above.
Momo can be steamed, pan fried, deep fried, sauteed and can be many more varieties of dishes. However, today we are going to talk about Chilli MoMo, which is also called C-MOMO. C-Momo is famous for the people who love spicy food. C-Momo can be moderate to extra spicy, the more spicy you eat, you will enjoy the most.
Alright enough talking, I am here to show you one video of C-MOMO as well as give you a recipe of C-Momo. So that you can try making these recipe by yourself at your home. I will include the video at the very bottom of this page, but now let’s talk about c-momo and it’s recipe.
First of all, we would need to steam the momo. I will not talk about how to make momos in this post, however if you want me to show you that as well, let me know. Steam momos as usual and we will prepare an ingredient of this recipe.
Below video, I am posting here is in Nepali language, however you really do not have to worry about it, since I will explain all the recipe here and you can just follow how to make it. The list of ingredients goes below:
1. 8-10 medium pcs of momos (dumplings)
2. 8 Green Chillies (Take according to your spicy Level)
3. 1 Onion
4. 1 1/2 Tomatoes
5. 1/2 tsp of dried Crushed Cilantro & Cumin
6. 1/2 cup of Fresh Chopped Cilantro
7. 1 1/2 Medium Cut Green Bell Peppers.
8. 1 tsp Turmeric
9. 1 tsp Salt (Can add more according to your need)
10. 6 Cloves of Minced Garlic
11. 1 Tbsp of Minced Ginger
12. 1/2 cup of Top part Green Scallion
13. 1 Tbsp of Bottom part Scallion
14. 1 Tbsp of Tomato Ketchup (Optional)
These above ingredients are used on C-momo, once you are able to collect these ingredients, you are good to go for c-momo. Now we will explain all the procedure step by step, so that you can cook this delicious and yummy c-momo by yourself at home.
Let’s get started:
1. Heat the pan at high heat first, once the pan get heated, pour 2-3 Tbsp of Olive Oil and then lower your heat to medium. You can add any Oil, it’s all up to your preferences.
2. Once oil is hot enough, put chillies, minced ginger and garlic in the pan and fry until golden brown.
3. Add Crushed red chilli pepper, this is completely optional. This makes chilli momo extra spicy. If you can tolerate the spicy, than adding crushed chilli pepper will give you a very tasty spicy flavor.
4. Now, add Onions, Turmeric, dried cilantro & Cumin, add salt according to taste and mix it for few seconds.
5. Add tomatoes and cook for 1-2 minute and add 1 tsp of Black pepper. Cook extra 2 minute so that tomatoes will create a saucy texture. Don’t overcook tomatoes.
6. Now, add green bell peppers (Capsicum) and stir. Adding Maggi brand Hot & Spicy sauce, again it’s completely optional. However, the flavor will be an awesome if you add this sauce.
7. When you start seeing the ingredient as gravy and saucy, we will add all the pan fried momos and mix it well with all the sauces.
8. Lastly, garnish your c-momo with freshly chopped cilantro and scallion and stir it for 30 seconds. And you are ready to serve.
