Steve Harvey Epic Fail: Host Announces the Wrong Winner
The phenomenal comic and ‘Family Feud’ have inadvertently crowned Miss Colombia as Miss Universe—before conceding he’d committed a horrible error.
The 2015 version of the Miss Universe Pageant was book-ended by two minutes that were captivating for altogether different reasons.
Judge Perez Hilton, wearing a remarkable Christmas suit, opened Sunday night’s festivities by pronouncing: “Thankfully, Donald Trump no more possesses this show.”
In a goof-up of noteworthy extents, the host of the Miss Universe show Steve Harvey, figured out how to give the most humiliating TV snippet of 2015, when he reported and afterward delegated the wrong lady as the victor. Steve, host of the 2015 Miss Universe Pageant crowned Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez, as the winner – with Miss Philippines Pia Anlonzo Wurtzbach as first runner-up. At that point, something genuinely unusual happened: as Miss Colombia donned her crown and blooms, grinning wide and pantomiming blowing kisses to the group, Harvey reported that he’d misread the prompt cards, and that Gutierrez should be delegated the first runner-up, with Wurtzbach as the winner.
“There’s… I have to apologize,” said Harvey. “The first runner-up is Colombia.”The camera then cut to Wurtzbach, who looked completely stunned. A crestfallen Gutierrez was then de-crowned, and Wurtzbach was crowned the winner.
Then, to add insult to injury, Harvey fired off, and then deleted, the following tweet (note the spellings of “Philippines” and “Colombia”):
